A former UFC double champ wants heavyweight titleholder Tom Aspinall to vacate or be stripped, so that another top heavyweight contender can become champion while Aspinall recovers from injuries.
Aspinall underwent multiple eye surgeries earlier this year following the double eye poke from Ciryl Gane at UFC 321, and his eyes still have not healed fully.
The Brit has been out of action for 300+ days, and although he’s eager to run it back with the now-interim titleholder Gane, Aspinall’s new manager Eddie Hearn does not want him to come back too early and injure his eye again. As per Hearn, doctors and the commission will ultimately decide whether Aspinall is ready to fight, and it will not depend solely on how Aspinall is feeling and what the champ wants to do.

Henry Cejudo wants Tom Aspinall to vacate or be stripped
Henry Cejudo believes Tom Aspinall should vacate and let someone else be the undisputed UFC heavyweight champion until he’s actually back and his eyes have fully healed.
“I think [Tom Aspinall] needs to vacate or be stripped at this point. As a champion, if you are hurt and unwilling to compete, vacate the belt. Let somebody be called undisputed until you are actually back.”
“Triple C” also suggested that Aspinall’s decision to bring in Eddie Hearn as his manager is not going to help.
“Eddie Hearn does not help Tom Aspinall. He’s got no leverage. Time is almost up… By the time October 26th hits, he can be stripped after that. Eddie Hearn cannot help him… You’re poking the bear. Dana White’s the bear. You’re f*cking with the boss. It’s not good business to have Dana White as your enemy.

Meanwhile, Dana White said the heavyweight division will “keep rolling” since Tom Aspinall is still hurt.
