Ducati has released the details on its 2027 Desmo450 MX, and there is more to look at than the new black logos. The updates touch gearing, rider controls and durability, with a dedicated suspension setup for the U.S. market. American buyers will see the bike arrive at select dealerships in late October with the price holding at $11,495.
A U.S. SUSPENSION SETUP
The American-market bike gets revised fork valving and oil level, a low-speed valve, and 22mm-offset triple clamps, replacing the previous 20mm setup according to Ducati North America. Out back, the shock spring increases from 46 N/mm to 50 N/mm, accompanied by revised valving. Ducati says the changes target more support on jumps and landings.
That is the update we are most interested in getting on the track. A spec sheet can tell you what changed; a rough afternoon of motos will tell you how well it works.
GEARING, CONTROLS AND DURABILITY
A 51-tooth rear sprocket changes the final-drive ratio, while redesigned shifter and rear brake pedal tips address foot movement. Refueling gets a larger 40mm opening, and Pirelli Scorpion MX32 Mid-Soft tires round out the changes riders will notice first.
There are also revisions to the starter gear tolerances, water pump seal and exhaust connection. Ducati has updated the chain guide support, fork guards and front engine mounting brackets. These parts might not get much attention in the showroom, but they matter once a bike starts collecting hours.
THE DESMO PACKAGE
The 449.6cc single-cylinder engine retains Ducati’s desmodromic valve system. Ducati lists 63.5 horsepower at 9400 rpm; that is the manufacturer’s figure. The package includes an aluminum frame, Showa suspension, Brembo brakes and electronics covering traction control, launch control, quickshifting and engine braking.
An accessory Wi-Fi module also enables a maintenance system that uses riding data to tailor engine service intervals to actual use.
WHAT ABOUT THE FACTORY MODEL?
Ducati also announced a 2027 Desmo450 MX Factory with an Akrapovic titanium exhaust, upgraded suspension treatments, billet clamps and a holeshot device. However, the 2027 Factory will not be sold in North America. Ducati says this market will instead retain the limited-edition 2026 Factory model.
