We saw a lot of significant changes to the Honda CRF250R and CRF450R models last year in 2025, marking a major step forward for the platform. One of the standout additions was the introduction of the CRF250R Works Edition, the first time Honda offered a factory-upgraded version of the 250. With a redesigned frame, updated suspension, and a host of engine and chassis improvements, the 2025 models set a new standard. For 2026, Honda returns with much of the same, carrying over the proven updates and continuing to offer the Works Edition models for both the CRF250R and CRF450R.

For 2026, Honda’s CRF250 and CRF450 return with the same platform introduced in 2025, when both bikes received a significant round of updates. Some of the changes we saw last year in 2025 were as follows:
(1) A redesigned frame featuring 70 percent new components, engineered to improve overall handling.
(2) Updated subframe mounting points that increased lateral rigidity.

(4) The fork received new springs, shims, and seals to reduce harshness and enhance ride comfort.
Suspension changes were made in 2025 to be overall softer as they made the frame more stiff.
(5) A new shock spring, reservoir, shaft, and oil seal contributed to a more consistent and controlled stroke.
(6) The shock linkage was replaced with a one-piece structure that boosted rigidity and stability, while a revised rising rate improved bottoming resistance and reduced chassis pitching.
(7) The front brake caliper was updated with a new piston and improved seals for more consistent braking performance.
(8) The airbox was redesigned to eliminate the upside-down air filter, creating a straighter intake path for smoother throttle response.

(9) Crankshaft rigidity was increased, delivering better midrange torque.
(10) A straighter muffler and head pipe design improved acceleration and throttle feel.
(11) New ECU maps refined the power delivery across the rpm range for smoother performance.
(12) All-new bodywork with flatter surfaces offered improved ergonomics and increased contact points for better bike control.
(13) Shock removal time was cut in half by eliminating the need to remove the subframe.
The Honda CRF250RX model is an offroad version of the the R models, using a lot of the same components and saw a lot of the same changes.
(14) The CRF250RX and CRF450RX off-road models received all of the same engine, suspension, and chassis improvements as the motocross versions.
(15) Honda also introduced Works Edition models for both the CRF250 and CRF450, equipped with premium upgrades. These special-edition models return once again for 2026.
