Kyle Tucker is finally seeing better days in a Dodgers uniform as he's made a turnaround in his performance in September, which is helping to put his lingering offensive struggles behind him. 

In addition, his slump this season also included a defensive mishap that generated boos from Dodgers fans on Aug. 16 against the Milwaukee Brewers. Following his massive four-year, $240 million contract with the second-highest AAV ($60 million) in MLB history, he hasn't lived up to his former All-Star standards during his tenures with the Houston Astros and Chicago Cubs. 

While his recent revival is encouraging, his overall performance in his first year with the Dodgers has been disappointing. His .227 batting average with 15 home runs and 66 RBI across 142 games is a significant decline. 

But the four-time All-Star has shown flashes of resurgence with four home runs in September, which is the most he's hit in a month this season. Across 13 games in September, he recorded nine RBI with a .585 SLG, a .891 OPS and a 136 OPS+. In his last seven games, he's also batted an impressive .304 with three home runs, seven RBI, seven hits and three walks.

The 29-year-old has also improved his season-long OPS to .701. His 15th home run of the season came against the Cincinnati Reds on Monday, igniting the Dodgers offense and eventually leading to a 4-1 victory. In addition, the win allowed them to successfully clinch their 39th playoff berth in franchise history. 

But according to manager Dave Roberts, Tucker's resurgence is no fluke, as the hitting coaches have helped him make a mechanical adjustment with his swing that has helped ''unlock something.'' 

By fine-tuning his bat path and staying through the zone longer, it has allowed him to generate more power and upgrade his offensive production. Before the swing adjustment, Tucker struggled with a high chase rate (24.1 percent) in the first half of the season. He also was getting underneath fastballs and had trouble handling breaking pitches during his struggles. 

But his recent spark included going 3-for-3 with a grand slam and a five-RBI performance against the Miami Marlins on Sept. 11. His resurgence is hopefully a sign that he can continue to provide consistent production for the remaining stretch before October baseball arrives.
