Social media fans overwhelmingly believe that today’s brief altercation during the face-off between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford was staged in a WWE-esque theatrical maneuver to help create fake hype for their “biggest fight of the century on Netflix on September 13th.

Scripted Scuffle Suspicions

Some fans believe the dinner Canelo and Crawford had with Turki Alalshikh the other night was a strategy meeting to map out the pseudo-altercation during today’s press conference. People believe that the dinner meeting was where the idea of the premeditated scuffle was cooked up.

What wasn’t accounted for was the poor acting ability of Canelo, and especially that of Crawford. When they walked forward for the face-off, you could see that there was going to be a shove or a slap.

It would have been more believable to fans if Crawford had some acting skills, but he already looked like he was in his role. The only things missing were a costume and more lighting. If Crawford had been asked to recite some lines for his theatrical part, he would have either come across as wooden or flubbed his lines, making him and Canelo look silly.

The shove that Canelo gave Bud was weak, and nothing like what we saw from the Mexican superstar when he slapped Caleb Plant during their kickoff press conference in 2021.

Undramatized Altercation Reaction

Neither of these fighters showed any stage presence in their underdramatized altercation. The acting ability of Alvarez and Terence was cardboard and stilted. I didn’t believe in either of their characters. You could see the fakeness.

“It’s going to be one of the greatest fights ever, for sure. That night is going to be very special. I think fans won’t want to miss this fight,” said Canelo Alvarez during today’s New York press conference, promoting his fight against Terence Crawford on September 13th.
