Rio Ngumoha continues to look like one of the brightest young talents at Liverpool, and some of Europe’s biggest clubs are clearly paying attention.

The winger only turned 18 in August, but has already delivered unforgettable moments.

Ngumoha joined Liverpool from Chelsea in 2024 after establishing himself as one of the most exciting players in the London club’s academy.

His rise was quick, becoming Liverpool’s youngest starter when he faced Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup at 16, before announcing himself in the Premier League with a dramatic winner at Newcastle.

That goal, scored deep into added time on his league debut, made Ngumoha the youngest goalscorer in Liverpool’s history.

He followed it by becoming the club’s youngest Champions League player and later the youngest Red to score at Anfield.

Those landmarks explain why Liverpool have such high hopes for him. Ngumoha is direct, confident in one-v-ones and willing to attack defenders whenever space opens up.

He also looks suited to Andoni Iraola’s football.

Liverpool’s new head coach wants pace, intensity and bravery from his wide players, while his pressing demands require forwards who are prepared to run, and Ngumoha demonstrated that energy after starting Tuesday’s 3-1 Carabao Cup victory over Tottenham.

Iraola revealed afterwards that the youngster had given so much that he had little left when he was substituted.

Bayern Munich explored a summer move, while RB Leipzig were also linked. Liverpool refused to entertain a sale and Ngumoha stayed, having signed his first professional contract in September 2025.

Arsenal have now joined the list of admirers, prompting David Ornstein to provide an update on the teenager’s position.

Ornstein told The Athletic:

Ngumoha has already shown that he can influence Premier League matches, but his next challenge is turning occasional starts and substitute appearances into a regular role.

Iraola’s approach should create chances for him, particularly across a long season involving four competitions.

His display against Tottenham was another reminder that he can handle the pressure of a massive occasion, but Liverpool will still need to manage the situation carefully.

Arsenal, Bayern and Leipzig can all offer elite platforms and will continue watching if his progress slows.

There is currently no indication that Ngumoha wants out, while Liverpool have made their position clear whenever interest has emerged.

However, keeping a player of his ability happy will require more than simply rejecting bids, and Liverpool must show that he has a genuine route into Iraola’s strongest side.
