David Martinez, Dan Ige

Earlier tonight at Noche UFC, David Martinez extended his win streak to 11 by securing a unanimous win over the experienced Dan Ige to start the main card with a bang.

“100 Grand,” on the other hand, failed to snap his two-fight losing skid on his bantamweight debut and has now lost 5 of his last 6 bouts.

Fight recap

Martinez did not find his range, rhythm, or pace early on and had a hard time tracking down Ige. However, the Mexican fighter managed to piece up Ige’s lead leg and briefly put him on the canvas. Ige, on the other hand, had some success with his output but failed to land anything significant.

Overall, the 28-year-old looked like the faster and sharper fighter in the first frame, making him a tricky puzzle for UFC veteran Ige.

Round 2 was another strong round for Martinez. He completely found his rhythm and frustrated Ige with perfect distance management and did not let the latter land anything significant while continuing to chop away at Ige’s lead leg. Martinez’s speed and athleticism proved too much for Ige.

In the final round, an aggressive Dan Ige hunted for the fight-ending blow but was briefly dropped. Both fighters kept the pressure up, but Martinez was the one controlling the bout, chopping away at Ige’s lead leg and forcing him to fight on the back foot for most of the 15 minutes.

Official decision: David Martinez defeated Dan Ige via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) at Noche UFC
