Something a little different.

I finished up an MC 92 Peak / Pro Circuit / Splitfire CR125 build a few months back (posted on here).  My goal with that bike was to keep it as original as possible.  In the process, I ended up with a second 92 that I robbed front and rear suspension off of to complete the first build (original forks were garbage and shock was locked up beyond reasonable repair).  My original plan was to put bike number two back together as best I could and just sell it to recoup some funds.

Curiosity is a wonderful thing, as they say, and I started looking at what kind of upgrades I could find and maybe putting something a little more fun back together as I didn’t really have anything else in the hopper to keep me busy.  I had a few parts left over from the first build that I chose to upgrade or not use.  That and a few late nights spent on research, some phone calls and emails around the world and some time on eBay and I was well on my way to a modernized 92 Peak bike.

I had already tackled tear down when I harvested the suspension for the previous build and sent the frame out for custom welding and powder coat. Most of the existing parts were vapor blasted and I found that the left side case was destroyed by chain damage.  Luckily found a replacement locally.  The seat was cut, so replacement foam sourced.  With a little bit of time and few bucks, parts started showing up.

Here’s a quick list of what went in to it.

Completely fresh engine including Millenium 134cc cylinder, Vforce reeds, period correct CR250 air boot and Hinson clutch.

Hyggee cone pipe and Pro Circuit silencer

Updated Keihin PWK38 airstyker carb (required the larger boot)

Cerakoted and carbon fiber wrapped air box

2003 CRF450 front forks, re-anodized gold with SpD billet triple clamps

Prime MX restyle kit with 2017 CRF450 front fender and number plate

Renthal fat bars, pad, Renthal half waffle grips and ASV levers

2003 CR125 KYB shock, shimmed and updated internals

UFO blue rear plastics

Mix of EVO MX and Throttle Jockey graphics including MC #2 number plates.  (Already have the #1 bike, so figured this was fitting)

Excel wheels with Bridgestone tires front and rear.  2003 CRF450 front caliper/reservior, hub and axle.  P3 carbon fiber front disc cover.  All new bearings.

Garage 11 carbon fiber water pump guard with custom frame mounts.

Literally everything was touched, spit shined, refinished or replaced.  Probably better than the day it rolled out of whatever local Honda dealer it was sold from.  This was a fun one to put together and I’m looking forward to getting this one dirty.

She’ll spend the summer here in the NW, then is probably going up for sale.  As a bonus, I was down at the MX opener at Fox and MC gifted me one of the new Bell Moto 10 PC throwback helmets that looks pretty sick with this one.  Couple of great classics with a modern twist!
