Even if Jean-Philippe Mateta doesn't leave before Tuesday's deadline, Palace may need to bring in a new striker, as the Frenchman has just one year remaining on his contract, and Jorgen Strand Larsen hasn't exactly made a flying start to life at Selhurst Park.

The Norwegian striker has scored four goals in 24 matches, since arriving from Wolverhampton Wanderers during the January transfer window, whereas Janneh has been more prolific since joining Laussane last season.

The 20-year-old has picked up 12 goals and four assists in 26 matches for the Swiss side, and scout Jacek Kulig has been left impressed by the impact he's made since arriving from Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window.

The Spaniard is still very young, and didn't make a senior appearance for Atletico, which suggests he may not be ready to make an immediate impact in the Premier League.

However, the starlet's exploits in Switzerland suggest he could be a good understudy for Mateta, with it being widely reported the Eagles would be willing to let his contract run down, if it means retaining the 29-year-old's services for another year.

Crystal Palace enter the race to sign Omar Janneh with Malick Fofana

According to journalist Pete O'Rourke, Crystal Palace are exploring a move for Janneh, who could be an affordable addition to Pierre Sage's squad, with his current employers prepared to sanction a sale for just £10m.

The Swiss side don't want to lose their striker, but there is growing interest from across Europe, with Hoffenheim, Freiburg Borussia Monchengladbach, AS Monaco and Anderlecht all keen.

Alongside an out-and-out striker, the Eagles are also looking to sign a new winger, and they are ready to make a late push to sign Lyon winger Malick Fofana, with the 21-year-old expected to be available for around £39m.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Fofana is also being targeted by Arsenal though, and unsurprisingly, the Belgian is keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium, which could complicate things for Palace.

The former KAA Gent man has picked up 19 goals and eight assists in 84 matches for Lyon, but injuries blighted his 2025-26 season, missing the majority of the campaign after undergoing surgery on his ankle.
