UFC superstar Conor McGregor doesn’t believe Jon Jones deserves to be at the top of the heap when discussing the all-time greatest fighters.

Ahead of Conor McGregor’s return to the Octagon this weekend at UFC 329, the former two-division UFC champion continues to make headlines. McGregor will fight former BMF titleholder Max Holloway in the UFC 329 main event this Saturday; his first fight in five years.

Many legends, pundits, and fellow fighters are fired up to see how McGregor looks in his comeback fight. One such fan is Jon Jones, who retired last year after a long contract dispute with the promotion.

Jones recently praised McGregor in discussing his comeback fight and the Irish star’s place in UFC history. Jones is regarded by many as the greatest fighter in UFC history.

Despite his long friendship with Jones, McGregor doesn’t believe Jones’ resume is GOAT-worthy.

In a recent interview with Complex, McGregor explained his rationale for putting himself over Jones as the UFC’s best fighter ever.

“Where’s he now? And who is left? It’s the pain game, who can outlast and stay the longest. Here I am, still,” McGregor said of Jones.

“None of these guys including Jon, with his history, is on my level. He’s got 8 knockouts, I have 19. If you look at my body of work, it’s straight to the fire, and there’s no tuning up. I’d beat Georges [St-Pierre], I’d beat Jon. Jon can’t box! He can stomp the knee…

“You’re going to f—– see. The game isn’t done yet!”

McGregor became the UFC’s first simultaneous two-division champion when he won the lightweight title over Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205. Jones added a second title to his resume when he won the then-vacant heavyweight belt at UFC 285 against Ciryl Gane.

If McGregor is victorious this weekend against Holloway, it’ll be regarded as one of the greatest comebacks in combat sports history. But according to McGregor, he’s already cemented himself as the all-time best.
