Jovan Leka needed just one perfectly placed strike to announce his arrival in the UFC.

Competing in front of a partisan Serbian crowd, the heavyweight prospect delivered a spectacular first-round stoppage of Alexander Poppeck, earning a memorable debut victory at UFC Belgrade.

Despite giving up significant experience to the German veteran, Leka remained patient through the opening minutes as Poppeck controlled the early tempo with leg kicks, quick combinations, and constant movement around the cage. Rather than forcing the action, the 24-year-old Serbian waited for the right opportunity to counter.

That opening arrived just over two minutes into the round. Leka uncorked a crushing left body kick that landed flush to Poppeck’s liver, instantly folding the German to the canvas. With his opponent clearly compromised, Leka followed him to the ground and unleashed a series of unanswered punches, forcing the referee to wave off the contest.

The emphatic finish marked a dream UFC debut for the Serbian heavyweight, who became the first fighter from the host nation to secure a victory on home soil at UFC Belgrade. The win improved Jovan Leka’s professional record to 14-2.
