Angus is an experienced football writer who has been in the industry since graduating from Southampton Solent University in 2022.
Having previously scribbled down thoughts on the indie rock scene for OurSoundMusic, and led VAVEL’s Brighton & Hove Albion department, Angus has settled in an analytical reporting role with Football FanCast, where he has produced thousands of articles.
After graduating from the academy of Snack Media (now Valnet), Angus is one of FFC’s longest-serving writers, having since joined the opinions and features team.
The lion’s share of his expertise has centred on Liverpool, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur, though an ever-changing football landscape has seen him cover any number of Premier League teams over the years.
Chelsea are primed for a new era under Xabi Alonso's management, ready to climb back up to the title-challenging level that fans are desperate to return to west London.
It's the Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup alone for Chelsea next season, who finished tenth after a tumultuous year. Enzo Maresca and then Liam Rosenior lost their jobs, but Alonso, crucially, has more power and control than his predecessors.
Chelsea have already signed Marco Palestra from Atalanta for £47m, while at least one high-quality centre-back will sign for the club. Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers is also greatly admired, though Arsenal seem to be in the driving seat there.
It's not only incomings on the agenda for Chelsea this summer, though, with Alejandro Garnacho's future at Stamford Bridge anything but certain.
Why Chelsea are willing to sell Garnacho
It has only been a year since Garnacho left Manchester United and signed for Chelsea in a £40m deal. In fact, it has been closer to ten months.
But BlueCo are already considering the 22-year-old's future, with a number of European suitors interested in striking a deal for the struggling attacker, who Chelsea have priced at £60m.

It would not be outrageous to suggest that Garnacho has regressed in the year since leaving Old Trafford and relocating in London, and while Chelsea have raised his price tag, it's understood that they would be open to cashing in on a winger clearly not sitting highly in Alonso's reckoning.
Garnacho's first year in west London probably hasn't gone as well as he would have hoped. Omitted from Lionel Scaloni's World Cup squad after playing a bit-part role for the struggling west Londoners, Garnacho may well need to find a new club to bring himself back to the fore.
For Chelsea, this is simply a task in finding a solution that will best serve the incipient Alonso project. Expect a signing or two, with someone like Rogers sure to impact Garnacho in his quest for regular minutes.
However, Chelsea may already have an even bigger talent than Garnacho - and he hasn't even played a competitive minute for the club.
Meet the Chelsea prospect who's better than Garnacho
Chelsea have signed any number of talented youngsters since the start of the BlueCo ownership, but Geovany Quenda could be the cream of the crop, having completed a £44m move from Sporting CP to Chelsea last year, only finalising the trip this summer.
Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol claims that in Portugal they are hailing Quenda as "the next Cristiano Ronaldo" while Chelsea insider Alex Goldberg has suggested he is "just like Estevao". Onlookers in clearly in awe at his potential as a world-class attacker.
Chelsea could have made use of his fleet-footed qualities over the 2025/26 season, but in the long run, they have probably made the prudent decision, with the 19-year-old winger enjoying a crucial year of development in Portugal.
The Portugal U21 international has scored nine goals and supplied 17 assists across all competitions for Sporting's senior side, and he has been hailed as "one of the most exciting teenagers in world football" by talent scout Jacek Kulig.
Look at this: across six Champions League fixtures last term, five of which were starts, Quenda posted two goals and two assists apiece, winning 61% of his duels and proving an all-round menace down the right wing.
Garnacho can play across both wings, and that is one of his greatest assets, but Quenda's raw pace and power suggests that he has everything he needs to fill in for the Argentine, and given Chelsea paid more for this untested gem than Man United's rising star, it's fair to say his stock is high indeed.
Garnacho is an immensely talented attacker. He has the potential to become a leading winger for a team consistently challenging for major titles.
However, Chelsea do not have time to mollycoddle an up-and-down winger who left a lot to be desired last year. If they receive a big offer from a potential suitor, BlueCo might just take it.
Alonso doesn't appear to be overly fussed by his potential departure, and with Quenda on the way to London, why should he be?
