The 2024 defending motocross champion, Chase Sexton will be returning to racing this weekend at the Red Bud National. Chase raced the opening round at Fox Raceway where he took a rock to his goggles which ended up breaking the lense causing Chase to have to get rid of them in the first couple laps of the first moto. He would continue racing without goggles on. A few laps later he would catch neutral on the landing of one of the bigger jumps on the track in an extremely fast section. This caused his wait to shift forward over the bars and down onto the ground hard. There was no statement on a specific injury but he had taken the next four rounds off to recover.

Chase Sexton came into the season as the defending champion of motocross and the runner-up in the 2025 Supercross series.

After missing the first few rounds of the motocross series Chase Sexton still sits in fourth place in the Supermotocross points standings. Though he is currently 132 points behind Cooper Webb who leads the points, Chase still has the opportunity to put himself into the top three which is a high-paying position.

Chase was fast at the opening round but we did not get to see his full potential in the opening laps at Fox Raceway.

In qualifying at Fox Raceway for the season opener Chase was the second-fastest rider, right behind Jett Lawrence. After a good start in the first moto disaster struck causing him to leave his goggles behind. He had a message on the pit board that said “Goggles next lap” but he would not make it there as he would go down with about three-quarters of the lap completed.

Now after hopefully what was a good recovery process, we add Sexton back into the mix as a potential winner this season and he will hop back in and battle for position. Chase has always been one of the more entertaining riders on the track as his style has always been to attack rather than give up a position. We are looking forward to having him back at the races, hopefully for the rest of the season into the SMX finals.
