The transaction will be closed shortly with Chisholm taking an ownership stake of at least 51 percent of the Celtics. Chisholm will have full control by 2028 at a price that could bring the total valuation to $7.3 billion.
Chisholm is the managing partner of California-based Symphony Technology Group.
Wyc Grousbeck led the ownership group that bought the team in 2002 for $360 million. The Celtics won the championship in 2008 and 2024 under Grousbeck's ownership tenure.
