Kyle Teel has elevated offensive production for the Chicago White Sox at catcher since returning from a high-ankle sprain on Sept. 4. Sam Phalen of Roundtable Sports noted on X that Teel has a .853 OPS since the White Sox activated him from the injured list.

Teel has a .207 batting average, .395 on-base percentage, .448 slugging percentage, two home runs, six runs batted in, one double and nine walks in 38 plate appearances in September. Teel has a .196/.315/.359 slash line with a .674 OPS in 108 plate appearances over 31 games during an injury-plagued 2026 season.

Teel hit .273/.375/.411 with a .786 OPS, eight HRs and 35 RBI over 78 games and 297 plate appearances as a rookie in 2025. Getting Teel back from injury should help what has been a potent White Sox offense for most of the 2026 season.

Including Teel, White Sox catchers are hitting .168/.266/.275 with a .541 OPS, 15 HRs and 60 RBI in 585 plate appearances in 2026. White Sox catchers are last in 2026 with a -2.9 wins above replacement. Teel is the White Sox's only regular catcher in 2026 with a positive WAR at 0.4

With Teel out for most of the 2026 season, the White Sox have played five other catchers. Young prospect Edgar Quero, optioned to Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday, leads White Sox catchers with 69 games played in 2026. Quero has a .203/.284/.257 slash line, .540 OPS, three HRs and 19 RBI in 2026. 

With nine games left in the 2026 regular season entering Friday night, the White Sox will primarily play Jake Rogers and Teel at catcher. Since joining the White Sox in August, Rogers has a .103/.239/.179 slash line, a .419 OPS, one home run and three RBI in 18 games.
