Markovic spent the 2023–2026 stretch with Mega Basket, including a loan spell at OKK Beograd in 2023–24, before emerging as one of the most productive young forwards in the ABA League. Across the 2025–26 campaign, he averaged 18.3 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 31.8 minutes per game while shooting 50.3% from the field and 30.3% from three-point range.

His efficiency profile was driven by interior scoring and physical finishing, with 4.9 two-point makes per game at 59.4% accuracy and 5.2 free throw attempts at 81.7%. He also contributed defensively and on the glass, leading the ABA League in rebounding with 9.1 per game and adding 1.0 steals and 0.4 blocks per contest.

Markovic’s accolades from the 2025–26 season included ABA League MVP honors, All-ABA League First Team recognition, and a second straight Top Prospect selection. He also led the league in rebounds while helping solidify his reputation as one of the most complete frontcourt prospects in the competition.

His résumé already includes Euroleague Next Generation Tournament championship experience (2022) and appearances at the Nike Hoop Summit (2025).

The Bucks finished the 2025–26 regular season 32–50, ranking 11th in the Eastern Conference, and entered an organizational reset following the June trade of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis to the Miami Heat. The deal brought back Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, and multiple future draft assets, reshaping the franchise around younger rotation pieces and developmental prospects.

Within that framework, Markovic enters a frontcourt rotation anchored by Myles Turner and Ousmane Dieng, alongside Bobby Portis’ former minutes now redistributed across younger forwards.
