Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayNorman broke Wagner down with body shots, scored two knockdowns, and forced a stoppage after a shoulder injury ended the fight
Brian Norman Jr. (29-1, 23 KOs) stopped Josh Wagner (19-3, 10 KOs) in the second round after breaking him down with sharp body punching and relentless pressure in their co-feature bout. Norman scored two knockdowns before Wagner’s shoulder injury forced the ringside physician to halt the fight at 1:24 of round two.
Norman established himself early by taking the center of the ring and working behind a relaxed lead hand. He placed the jab consistently and invested downstairs, digging hooks to the body to slow Wagner and keep him from getting comfortable.
The finish came quickly in the second round. Norman landed a leaping left hook that sent Wagner stumbling backward and immediately followed with combinations that produced the first knockdown. Wagner got back to his feet, but Norman stayed on him and launched another attack that sent him down a second time.
Wagner rose again but immediately indicated a problem with his shoulder. After a brief assessment, the ringside physician ruled him unable to continue, bringing an end to the fight at 1:24 of the round.
Norman explained that he adjusted his approach after starting aggressively.
“I came out trying to take his head out. I swung big. But then decided to chill, work off the jab and stick to my fundamentals. And then I got the job done.”
“Working the body shot was on my mind. I looked at him and saw that he wasn’t very strong in the stomach.”
Norman also credited his development in the gym.
“I’ve learned a lot with Ronnie Shields. I’m being more calm and cool. And this ring is my home now. We’ll see what’s next. No matter what, I’ll handle business.”
The performance added another quick finish to Norman’s rise at welterweight.
