Brian Hsu is set to make a notable return to the highest level of motocross. The 28-year-old German is on the entry list for the Grand Prix of China in Shanghai, where he will compete in the MXGP class for JHL Factory Racing. This marks the Chinese motorcycle manufacturer’s debut in the FIM Motocross World Championship.

JHL is making a major push at its home round. According to reports, the Chinese brand intends to field riders in both the MXGP and MX2 classes. This will give JHL the opportunity in Shanghai to directly measure its machines against the established manufacturers in the World Championship.

For its MXGP project, the choice has fallen on Hsu. The German rider has plenty of international experience and will be tasked with showing where JHL currently stands against the competition on the 450cc machine.

The participation makes the Grand Prix of China even more intriguing. Chinese motorcycle manufacturers have been making significant progress in recent years, and with JHL, another new brand will now appear on the starting grid of an MXGP event.

According to information from MXNews-Online, another Chinese manufacturer, ZXMoto, will not participate in the Grand Prix in Shanghai. The brand is reportedly focusing entirely on preparations for 2027.

For Hsu and JHL, the Chinese Grand Prix will therefore be a special occasion: not only a home event for the manufacturer, but above all a first real test at the highest level of international motocross.
