Bob Myers spent years building championship teams around Stephen Curry. This offseason, he helped deny his former franchise the stars it desperately wanted.

After leading Golden State to four titles as general manager, Myers switched sides as president of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, playing a key role in Philadelphia’s blockbuster offseason.

The 76ers landed both Jaylen Brown and LeBron James – two players the Warriors had aggressively pursued.

The contrast couldn’t have been sharper. Myers once dedicated himself to extending Curry’s championship window. Now he helped make that task much harder.

His résumé in Golden State speaks for itself. Myers committed to Curry early with a four-year, $44 million extension, found Draymond Green with the 35th pick, hired Steve Kerr, acquired Andre Iguodala and convinced Kevin Durant to join the franchise.

This summer, however, he was selling a different vision.

Appearing on Rich Paul’s podcast, Myers made his pitch directly to James’ longtime agent.

“I honestly believe this is your best chance to win,” Myers said.

With Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown, Tyrese Maxey and V.J. Edgecombe already in place, Philadelphia offered James an immediate title opportunity.

Myers wasn’t the only reason James chose the 76ers, but his credibility and relationships gave Philadelphia another advantage during the recruitment.

After stepping into an interim leadership role following Daryl Morey’s departure, Myers helped oversee arguably the NBA’s strongest offseason, adding Brown, James, Anfernee Simons, Dean Wade and Ariel Hukporti.

Meanwhile, Golden State struck out on every major target and now enters the season relying largely on the same core, leaving Curry to chase another title without the superstar reinforcements the Warriors had hoped to secure.
