Toronto Blue Jays rookie Brett Bateman has already established himself as an impactful sparkplug, but he's also shown he has some pop with his bat. 

He's achieved a major milestone by homering back-to-back games (Sept. 11-12) against the AL East rival Baltimore Orioles. His first home run in the big leagues came in the bottom of the ninth inning on Friday off reliever Alex Hoppe to help cut the Blue Jays' deficit to 7-4. 

While the Blue Jays weren't able to make a comeback after rallying late in the game, Bateman's home run brought vibrancy to a game that got out of hand early. After veteran starter Max Scherzer gave up six consecutive hits, placing them in a 6-0 rut after only the second inning. 

Bateman then answered the next day with his second home run at Rogers Centre against Kyle Bradish in the bottom of the third inning, increasing the Blue Jays' lead to three. Bateman successfully turned on a 95 mph four-seam fastball off Bradish and launched it to right-center field, homering in consecutive games. It's a huge feat for the rookie outfielder who is relishing his time in a Blue Jays uniform.

Bateman has been a massive success story who has made a huge transformation from when he was hitting just .221 for the Iowa Cubs on May 20. 

Four months later, he's consistently held a batting average over .300 for roughly three weeks now. He's undeniably become the unsung hero for the Blue Jays helping to keep them in a tight AL wild-card race as well as becoming a fan favorite.

He has excelled as the Blue Jays leadoff hitter and after hitting his second MLB home run, he humored fans by flexing his arm muscle as he trotted around the bases in excitement. 

Since making his debut, he has gone 40-for-118 with a .339 batting average that ranks third in the MLB with a .402 OBP and .825 OPS. 

In college, he didn't hit a single home run (in 128 games), and in the minor leagues, he hit six in 317 games. But now, the 24-year-old has two in 30 MLB games.
