Under their US ownership, Birmingham will no doubt have their sights firmly set on making a push for the Premier League, and it has been a decent start to the Championship season, all things considered, having only lost one of their opening seven matches.

According to a report from Football Insider, Birmingham would make an approach to appoint the ex-Wolves boss, if they were to sack Davies, who has been criticised for his negative approach to matches.

Should the Blues struggle to challenge for a place in the play-offs, the ownership may decide a change is necessary, and they are admirers of Edwards, with the 43-year-old well-aware of what it takes to challenge for promotion.

Indeed, the former Forest Green Rovers manager won the League Two title during his time at The New Lawn, while he also guided Luton Town to promotion in the 2022-23 season, with his side defeating Coventry City on penalties in the play-off final.

Moreover, when the Welshman chose to leave Middlesbrough to join Wolves last November, his side were in the automatic promotion places, which makes the decision to join a struggling Premier League side all the more confusing.

Nevertheless, journalist Henry Hill has suggested Edwards is a fantastic manager at Championship level, which means he could be a solid appointment for Birmingham, although it does seem a little early to be thinking about sacking Davies.
