Christian Tissier Shihan

Master Christian Tissier was born in 1951 in Paris, France. He is a very well known European aikido teacher, who pioneered the art in France. 

He began training in the art of Aikido in 1962 as a child in Paris, France, His dojo promoted the style of Hiroo Mochizuki. Christian then went on to train under Mutsuro Nakazono who awarded him 2nd dan before he left for Tokyo in 1969. 

Tissier traveled to Aikikai Hombu Dojo, in Tokyo, Japan, when he was just 18 years old. He stayed and trained there for 7 years, and among the teachers that inspired him are Seigo Yamaguchi, Kisaburo Osawa and Kisshomaru Ueshiba. 

While living in Tokyo, he also trained in Kenjutsu under Minoru Inaba at the Shiseikan and in Kickboxing at the Mejiro Gym. He also worked as a model and taught French language at a Japanese school in Tokyo, Japan.

Christian Tissier received his 7th dan award in 1998, and is among a small handful of westerners awarded the Shihan title by the Aikikai hombu dojo.

Christian Tissier Shihan

Christian Tissier Shihan is a founding member of the Federation France Aikibudo which was created in 1983. He is also a member of the technical college in charge of the Dan grade examinations and awards teaching certificates. 

Christian Tissier also works with the International Aikido Federation as an instructor during seminars and as a technical coordinator and demonstrator during major events such as the World Combat Games.

He was one of 3 Shihan awarded 8th dan by Doshu Moriteru Ueshiba at the Kagamibiraki Ceremony held on January 11, 2016 at the Aikikai Hombu Dojo.

Morihei Ueshiba developed Aikido from his combat studies of Daito-ryu Aiki jujutsu with Sokaku Takeda, and his spiritual studies with Onisaburi Deguchi.
