Arman Tsarukyan has discussed the kind of game plan he has in mind for his upcoming bout.

Tsarukyan will take on Brazilian knockout artist Mauricio Ruffy this weekend in the co-main event of UFC 331. Ahead of this high-stakes five-round potential 155-pound title eliminator clash, the Armenian knows he has to impress the UFC brass to earn the next title shot.

A lackluster or decision win may not impress the UFC boss, so Tsarukyan plans to do exactly what he did in his last bout. During a recent interview with Michael Bisping, he said:

“They already know what I’m going to do. You know what the wrestler does, you know, like why I should, like everybody can see my fights, what I’m doing. You can watch my fight with Dan Hooker. Yeah. It’s going to be kind of same game plan.”

Tsarukyan’s last fight was in 2025 against Dan Hooker at UFC Qatar, where the Armenian, after bloodying Hooker, secured a Round 2 submission win via arm-triangle choke.

Against a dangerous striker like Ruffy, Tsarukyan plans to rely on his biggest strength, his grappling, to drag the fight to the mat and hunt for a submission.

Arman Tsarukyan wants to “make a statement” at UFC 331

Arman Tsarukyan believes a finish this weekend could help him move ahead of Ilia Topuria and Paddy Pimblett in the lightweight title challenger race. He added:

“I’m gonna look for the finish and make a statement.”

If Tsarukyan secures a big win at UFC 331, he will most likely meet newly minted lightweight champion Justin Gaethje in the first or second quarter of 2027 unless the UFC has plans to give Ilia Topuria a title rematch.

The 29-year-old also has to stay calm during fight week, especially at the weigh-in, as “Batman” already knows the consequences of any chaos/brawl he is part of, or initiates, may be the next reason he once more does not get to fight for the belt despite being the top contender.
