Anthony Cacace will not face Raymond Ford as scheduled next month, with Queensberry Promotions reporting that their fighter has suffered a back injury in training.

The 36-year-old Cacace (24-1, 9 KO) was set to face Ford on August 16 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as part of the Moses Itauma vs Dillian Whyte undercard.

Cacace has been on an outstanding run of form over the last 14 months, defeating Joe Cordina, Josh Warrington, and Leigh Wood convincingly, stopping Cordina and Wood and widely out-pointing Warrington over 12 rounds.

The win over Cordina netted the Irish southpaw the IBF super featherweight title, which he vacated to take bigger money and face Warrington instead of mandatory challenger Eduardo Nunez, who now holds the title.

Cacace is on a nine-fight winning streak overall, dating back to 2017.

Ford (17-1-1, 8 KO) may stay on the card against a replacement opponent, as there are five weeks remaining until the event. The 26-year-old American has won two straight since moving up to 130 lbs, following his loss to Nick Ball 13 months ago at featherweight.
