Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayTyson Fury and Anthony Joshua could meet in either the UK or the United States when their long-awaited heavyweight fight takes place later this year.
The all-British showdown has been targeted for November, with promoter Eddie Hearn revealing that America is now under consideration alongside Britain as discussions continue over the venue.
“[The] UK and America are both in discussions right now. It’ll be down to [Turki Alalshikh] where that fight’s held, but we’re being told middle of November. [Joshua’s] got to get the job done against Prenga first,” said Hearn during an interview with Matchroom Boxing.
The inclusion of the United States comes as a surprise.
Saudi Arabia had widely been viewed as the most likely alternative if the fight was not staged in Britain, particularly given Turki Alalshikh’s role in helping bring the contest together. Hearn’s comments suggest a U.S. venue has entered the conversation instead.
Before any announcement can be made, Joshua must first take care of business against Kristian Prenga on July 25 in Riyadh.
Fury is also expected to return before facing Joshua. The former heavyweight champion has spoken about taking another fight during the summer after returning to the win column earlier this year.
A fight between Fury and Joshua has been discussed for years and remains one of the biggest events available in boxing. Hearn’s latest comments indicate the contest is moving toward a November date, with the final venue decision still to be made.
