Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayAgit Kabayel says he may step directly into the ring on Saturday night to challenge the winner of the Oleksandr Usyk vs. Rico Verhoeven fight, with the unbeaten German contender already looking ahead to a possible stadium event later this year.
Kabayel (27-0, 19 KOs) is the WBC interim heavyweight champion and has spent months waiting for clarity at the top of the division while Usyk prepares to defend his WBC title against Verhoeven at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt.
“When the winner, I think Uszyk, wins the fight, maybe I go in the ring and I say, ‘Let’s do it for the fans. We give the fans a good fight,’” said Kabayel to DAZN Boxing about potentially entering the ring after Saturday’s main event to call out the winner.
“But we will see.”
Kabayel has repeatedly pushed for a title shot and is already positioned as the WBC mandatory challenger. A victory for Usyk over Verhoeven would immediately bring attention back to the unbeaten German, especially after Turki Alalshikh recently floated Istanbul as a possible destination for one of Usyk’s future fights.
“I wait so long for this situation, but I think why not at the end of the year in Germany in a stadium,” said Kabayel.
“But I think the German fans and so many people have waited for this fight for so much. This is very interesting.”
“When the world understands how big Germany is in boxing, we will see.”
Kabayel has quietly become one of the more difficult heavyweights to ignore after recent wins pushed him into the mandatory position. Saturday’s main event may determine whether he finally gets the opportunity he has been waiting for.
