Presented by FXR Racing:  The 450 class is set to hit the track for qualifying at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, for the second round of the 2026 SuperMotocross World Championship playoffs. Jorge Prado enters Los Angeles with the red plate and 42 points, but Haiden Deegan has quickly closed the gap after making a statement in Columbus with a dominant 1-1 sweep in his first 450 SMX playoff appearance. Deegan now sits just two points back, while Cooper Webb is third with 38 and Ken Roczen sits fourth with 34 after finishing second in both motos at the opening round. With double points on the line in Los Angeles, qualifying will be important as the riders search for speed and bike setup on a track that combines Supercross-style rhythm sections and jumps with faster, more open motocross elements. With only the SMX finale remaining after this weekend, every position becomes increasingly important as the 450 field prepares for Playoff 2.

450 SEEDED QUALIFYING RESULTS OVERALL

The gate. Lots of heavy hitters ready to get that number one gate pick. 

The track has broken in, and a few new rhythms have now developed. Segment times show the long rhythm lane options are noticeably faster. Again, Deegan and Prado would go back and forth for the top spot. HRC’s Hunter Lawerance had other ideas and took the number one position, dethroning Deegan and Prado. Ken Roczen found his stride on lap four and put himself into 5th. Honorable mention Justin Hill snuck into the 7th spot aboard his Team Tedder KTM. Look for Justin to be sneaky fast in the mains.

450 SEEDED & UNSEEDED QUALIFYING RESULTS SESSION ONE

Ken Roczen was on fire in the mud last weekend. Let’s see what he can do in the dry California weather.

This time the seeded riders would hit the track first. It looks to us like this evening will be a battle between Deegan and Prado. Prado is here to prove he didn’t get the red plate because of a mud race; he’ll top the leaderboard on lap 3 and stay there. Deegan was looking aggressive as always and he wants to show the world he can win again.  The top five guys were only separated by one second; Hunter Lawrence, Cooper Webb, and Eli Tomac would round out the top 5. Shane McElrath would come out swinging aboard his new Beta 450. Shane looks fast, and we expect to see him in the show. Jason Anderson didn’t look great in Friday practice after being landed on by Malcolm Stewart last weekend. Fortunately, he puts himself into a good position to make the night show. The unseeded riders have another round of qualifying and then will race into the main.

Joey Savatgy has been quick in his return to racing as well.

Dylan Ferrandis isn’t talked about much throughout the day or in the broadcast, but still puts up great results.
