Presented by FXR Racing: The 450 class heads to Washougal with Hunter Lawrence back in control of the championship after sweeping both motos at Millville. Hunter’s 1-1 performance moved him ten points ahead of Jett Lawrence, who finished 2-5 for third overall after throwing away the second-moto lead with a late crash. Haiden Deegan continued to prove that he belongs at the front of the 450 class, charging back from an opening-lap crash in moto one to finish fourth before taking second in moto two for a career-best runner-up overall. Eli Tomac knocked off some race rust with 9-12 scores in his return and will get another chance to move forward at Washougal. The slick hardpack, heavy shadows and limited passing lines can make the Pacific Northwest track difficult to read, and with the Lawrence brothers trading the red plate all summer, another small mistake could produce another major championship swing.

450 SESSION 1 QUALIFYING RESULTS

Haiden Deegan has been inching closer to a win each weekend.

Session one of 450 qualifying got off to a slow start before the pace picked up quickly. Jett Lawrence was the first rider to lay down a fast lap, briefly moving to the top before ending the session fourth overall. Garrett Marchbanks and Jorge Prado worked together around the track early, with Marchbanks leading the way as the pair climbed into first and second. Haiden Deegan steadily built speed and jumped into second on his fourth lap, fueling plenty of conversation about whether this could finally be the weekend he knocks off the Lawrence brothers. Marchbanks continued to impress by shaving nearly two seconds off his previous best to reclaim the top spot, while Hunter Lawrence worked his way into third on lap six. But when it mattered most, Deegan delivered, putting together a blistering final lap to steal the fastest time of the session and send a clear message that he has the speed to fight for the top step later today.
