VHR Yamaha Official EMX250 Team’s Jarne Bervoets has claimed his best EMX250 result of the season with sixth overall at his home round in Belgium. The GYTR-kitted YZ250F rider secured the result with eighth- and fourth-place finishes across the two races. Rounding out a solid weekend for Yamaha-mounted racers, Tom Brunet placed fifth with Jekabs Kubulins in eighth.

The ninth round of the EMX250 Championship took place at the notorious, deep-sand track of Lommel in Belgium. Famed for its gruelling conditions regardless of the weather, the track quickly became rough under the warm summer sun and tested the physical fitness of all competitors.

Bervoets kicked off his home round with a strong seventh in Saturday morning’s qualifying session, which led to a favourable gate pick for the two championship races. In the opening race, the 17-year-old started well, and held fourth through the early stages before slipping to eighth by the chequered flag.

The second race began with Bervoets claiming the holeshot. From there, he led for several laps and battled to the end of the race for an impressive fourth-place finish. As a result of placing sixth overall, he moved up to 23rd in the EMX250 Championship with three rounds remaining.

Frenchman Tom Brunet was also on form in Belgium aboard his YZ250 two-stroke machine. After finishing 10th in Race One, he fought hard for a season-best third in the second race for fifth overall. JK Racing Yamaha’s Jekabs Kubulins also performed well in Belgium, delivering two consistent rides for eighth overall.

With a positive round of racing complete, the EMX250 campaign continues in two weeks’ time in Uddevalla, Sweden, over the weekend of August 15-16 where the EMX125 Championship also resumes.
