The Yankees have one obvious skill, one important, indelible skill. And we don’t have to call them the Bronx Bombers to know what it is.

They do hit dingers, tape-measure dingers, wall scrapers, all sorts of dingers.

They hit an MLB-best 274 dingers in the regular season, and after suffering a rare five-game homer lull at the wrong time, they hit the two biggest dingers of the year in Game 3 of the division series to save themselves. These are homers that kept them going, homers that helped deliver a necessary 9-6 victory Tuesday night over the Jays at a rocking, sold-out Stadium.

MVP favorite Aaron Judge hit the big one, which is how it should be. Judge was hitting .500 this postseason when he came up with two on and one out, down three runs in the fourth. But it wasn’t an especially loud .500, some folks were noting. And those folks were still wondering when he’d finally have his signature moment.
