All Wolves need to do is ask West Brom what happens when sides fail to bounce straight back to the Premier League. Their Midlands rivals very nearly dropped down to League One this season and that should act as a clear warning sign for all involved at Molineux.

They must waste no time before getting their summer business underway and have no excuses for failing to do so. Rob Edwards and his side knew their fate for some time in the Premier League, handing them a clear chance to plan ahead of the summer transfer window.

That's resulted in the emergence of several early targets, including Sunderland's Anthony Patterson. The shot-stopper looks to be on his way out of the Stadium of Light this summer and is seemingly a strong candidate to solve Wolves' own goalkeeper problem following Jose Sa's mixed campaign.

Alas, those in the Midlands aren't just doing their shopping around English football. According to SportsBoom, Wolves are now readying an offer to sign John Kennedy from Fluminense this summer.

The Brazilian is coming off the back of a 14-goal season in all competitions for his club and is attracting plenty of interest as a result. Alongside Wolves, Watford, Udinese and Cagliari are also racing to secure his signature.

Whether Wolves' offer will be enough to seal the deal remains to be seen. They're reportedly set to submit a bid worth €10m (£9m), which would fall short of Fluminense's €15m (£13m) asking price, whilst others are also preparing offers of their own.

Wolves should push to sign "lethal" Kennedy

The biggest problem that Wolves had last season was finding a consistent goalscorer, with Tolu Arokodare failing to replace Matheus Cunha. And whilst those problems will be eased by Adam Armstrong in the Championship, Edwards still needs a long-term talisman, which is where Kennedy could come in.

Dubbed "one of the most lethal finishers" in Brazil by South American expert Nathan Joyes, the 24-year-old enjoyed an excellent campaign for Fluminense last time out and could finally get his big move into Europe, courtesy of Wolves, this summer.

This is a player who's had a move on the cards for quite some time without anything coming into fruition. Wolves can change that and welcome an undeniable talent in the process.

At a time when English football is threatening to stagnate with pragmatism, the arrival of Kennedy would certainly be well-timed this summer.
