UFC and coach Davi Ramos provided updates on Raoni Barcelos' condition following UFC Vegas 121

The UFC was at the Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday for UFC Vegas 121. In the main event, bantamweight contenders threw down as Raul Rosas Jr. took on Raoni Barcelos.

Rosas entered the fight coming off the biggest win of his career as he beat Rob Font by decision to extend his winning streak to five. Barcelos, meanwhile, was riding a five-fight winning streak with big wins over the likes of Payton Talbott, Montel Jackson, and Cody Garbrandt, among others.

Barcelos dominated the fight and looked like he was going to cruise to an upset win. Yet, in the fifth round, Barcelos seemingly went unconscious out of nowhere, which was a scary scene as he was transported to the hospital. It is a win for Rosas, but the young contender didn’t look great. Following UFC Vegas 121, here is what I think should be next for the bantamweight contenders.

Raul Rosas Jr.

Raul Rosas Jr. looked like he was going to suffer another defeat as Barcelos dominated him after four rounds. Yet, he did slam Barcelos, and the Brazilian went unconscious after that; although the takedown wasn’t hard, it was a scary scene. However, it still is a win for Rosas, who should get a top-10 opponent next.

Rosas still has a lot of holes in his game, and the higher up he fights in the rankings will pose a lot of problems for him. But this was a good experience as he went into the fifth round. A logical next fight is to face Aiemann Zahabi, who’s ranked seventh and is coming off a KO loss to Sean O’Malley.

Raoni Barcelos

Raoni Barcelos fought well on Saturday as he looked like he was going to upset Rosas and show he’s still a title contender at his age. However, it ended in a scary situation, and the focus for Barcelos will be getting healthy and hopefully figuring out what happened.

Barcelos should take as much time off as possible, but despite the loss, he should still get a ranked opponent. A fight against the winner of Marcus McGhee vs. Bernardo Sopaj makes sense. The winner of that fight will be ranked around 15 and would be a good test for them and Barcelos, as the winner should get a top-10 guy next.

What do you think should be next for Raul Rosas Jr. and Raoni Barcelos?
