West Ham United defender Konstantinos Mavropanos has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.

Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen are interested in signing the player, and they will have to pay €35 million, according to Sebastien Vidal. The German club is currently weighing up whether they want to pay that kind of money for the defender.

Mavropanos has also been linked with Arsenal.

Konstantinos Mavropanos to leave?

The Greek international has a contract with West Ham until 2028, and the Hammers are under no pressure to sell him right now. Any club hoping to sign Mavropanos will have to pay the asking price. He is a talented defender with a bright future, and he could be a key player for Liverpool next season.

West Ham have been relegated to the Championship, and the defender will be attracted to the idea of joining a bigger club. He will want to compete at a high-level. There is no doubt that he is too good for the Championship. The move to the German club would be exciting for him.

It remains to be seen whether Leverkusen is prepared to pay the asking price.

Mavropanos leaving would be a blow

West Ham will want to bounce back strongly and return to the Premier League right away. They need to keep their key players, and it remains to be seen how the situation develops. They were quite disappointing defensively last season, and the departure of Mavropanos would be a blow for them.

Ideally, they will hope to keep the player at the club, but they could be powerless to stop him from leaving if the defender is keen on an exit. The asking price seems to reasonable for a player of his quality in today’s market, and he should be able to justify the outlay in future.
