The Spurs are not overreacting after dropping Game 1 of the NBA Finals, instead treating the defeat as another challenge to overcome in what has already been an eventful season.

Victor Wembanyama expressed full confidence in San Antonio’s ability to bounce back when the series continues.

“We know we’re not here by chance,” Wembanyama said.

The young star pointed to the adversity the team has faced throughout the year and praised the group’s mental toughness.

“We’ve been through some weird, weird, situations [or] whatever.”

Wembanyama also emphasized the resilience that has defined the Spurs throughout their playoff run.

“It’s reassuring to know that these guys, the 18 guys we’ve got, are built this way. [They] are resilient.”

San Antonio entered the season surrounded by uncertainty due to injuries and a young roster, but the organization maintained confidence in its long-term vision.

General manager Brian Wright said the team’s belief was rooted in the continued development of its core players and the addition of De’Aaron Fox.

“The one thing you could bank on was improvement,” Wright said.
