Several Spurs veterans are looking to bounce back after disappointing performances in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, with De’Aaron Fox and Keldon Johnson both acknowledging the need for improvement.

Fox struggled to find his rhythm in the opener, finishing with seven points on 3-of-13 shooting.

The veteran guard admitted that, regardless of his role within the offense, he has to be more efficient with his opportunities.

“I’ve got to make shots,” Fox said.

While noting that he takes fewer attempts than in previous stages of his career, Fox emphasized that he accepted that reality when joining San Antonio.

“Obviously I’m not shooting the ball as much. But coming here, I knew that was the way it was going to be.”

Fox added that personal sacrifices are part of helping the team succeed.

“As a player, you sacrifice for the betterment of the team.”

Meanwhile, Johnson is focused on quickly moving past his own difficult outing after scoring just three points in limited minutes.

“When you get in a series like this, once the game is over, you process it that night,” Johnson said.

The Spurs forward stressed the importance of maintaining perspective throughout a playoff series.

“You can’t let it linger on to other games. You can’t get too high, you can’t get too low.”

Johnson remains confident he will respond.

“I’ll correct those mistakes and be back at it tomorrow.”
