It all goes down this weekend (Sat., Aug 2, 2025) inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the main event, No. 6-ranked Tatsuro Taira takes on super short-notice replacement, Hyun-sung Park, in what should be a fun Flyweight scrap
We have a weekly series at MMAmania.com called “Weekend Lock,” where we share one bet that we predict will slap in “Sin City” when the chaotic dust settles. We also want to hear what our readers think (that’s you!), so please tell us your most confident UFC Vegas 108 betting lock in the comments section below (full UFC Vegas 108 odds here).
Last week’s recap: Our UFC Abu Dhabi prop did not slap. While Shara Magomdeov won his fight, he did not hit the under 2.5 as Marc-Andre Barriault's chin held up, and actually hurt the one-eyed pirate.
Let’s keep on, keeping on below:

UFC Vegas 108’s “Featured” fight pits Argentina’s Esteban Ribovics against Brazil’s Elves Brener in a Lightweight showdown that could steal the show.
Our “Weekend Lock” is Ribovics to Win & Over 1.5 Rounds at -130—a bet I’m riding despite last week’s Shara Bullet misfire.
Here’s why:
Ribovics is a firecracker: explosive, powerful, and technically sharp, but his all-in style can leave him open to grapplers. After a short-notice debut loss to wrestler Loik Radzhabov, he flashed his potential with crisp boxing and relentless pressure. He’s since racked up three bangers, including a brutal first-round knockout of Terrance McKinney (watch highlights) and a Fight of the Year war with Daniel Zellhuber.
Ribovics lost his last fight against Nasrat Haqparast via split decision, but most believe he won that fight.
Against Brener, he faces a dangerous yet hittable opponent. Brener’s stock exploded after a shocking comeback knockout win over Guram Kutateladze, but it’s worth noting he was clearly losing that fight before landing a haymaker. His brawling style leaves openings that Ribovics can exploit with his technical edge and superior footwork.
The Over 1.5 makes sense because Ribovics starts measured, decoding opponents early, with two of his wins going the distance. Brener’s tough enough to weather the storm past round one. Expect a high-octane scrap that hits the second or third before Ribovics seals it.
Ribovics is the cleaner fighter—calculated, defensively tight, and packing knockout power without overcommitting. If he sidesteps Brener’s early haymakers, he’ll break him down for a late TKO or decision.
However, I do realize Brener is chaos in a bottle. He thrives in ugly, unpredictable moments — and if Ribovics gets drawn into a wild brawl, all bets are off. Brener has already proven he can land the kill shot when least expected.
Still, at -130, the value is too good to ignore, and it should be a lock.
For what it’s worth, this X/Twitter user is riding with Ribovics as well, using Brenner’s layoff as a point worth looking at.
Esteban Ribovics vs. Elves Brener
Pick: Ribovics to Win, -250
Brener returns after a year away on 2x more ring rust against a much higher volume striker that also owns better defensive responsibility and superior success going the distance.
