A UFC commentator may have great news for Ilia Topuria and terrible news for Arman Tsarukyan.
“El Matador” most recently broke his social media hiatus and opened up about how he felt after the harsh and devastating June 14 loss.
Topuria was dethroned by Justin Gaethje earlier this year at UFC Freedom 250. During the bout, Topuria suffered a broken septum, fractures to both eye sockets, and a broken foot. After 4 rounds, his corner was forced to stop the bout.

However, Gaethje does not believe Topuria deserves a title shot right away, as on June 14, he made “El Matador” quit on the stool.
Currently, Topuria and Gaethje are both sidelined and recovering from their injuries.
Most recently, there were rumors that the winner of the UFC 331 co-main event, Arman Tsarukyan vs. Mauricio Ruffy, will be the next lightweight title challenger. However, Dana White stated last week that it will depend on how the Tsarukyan vs. Ruffy fight plays out.

Longtime UFC commentator Jon Anik’s comments suggest that could be bad news for Arman Tsarukyan and Mauricio Ruffy and good news for Ilia Topuria. Anik has said that there are “internal discussions” about a potential Topuria vs. Justin Gaethje title rematch, and he believes “that’s what’s going to happen.”
“I think there are internal conversations to potentially try to do Gaethje vs. Topuria 2. A rematch would be absolutely enormous, and I think, predictively, that’s what’s going to happen.”

Who does Justin Gaethje want to fight next?
Justin Gaethje will not enter the octagon again in 2026, and after finally winning the undisputed 155-pound strap, he still hasn’t decided if he wants to defend it or vacate and retire. Currently, Gaethje is ‘just going to enjoy being the champ.’
If “The Highlight” does return early next year, he’s shown interest in facing Arman Tsarukyan or Conor McGregor over Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira.
