Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayThe New Orleans Pelicans and forward Trendon Watford have agreed to a one-year, $2.9 million contract. The deal is likely a partial or non-guaranteed veteran minimum contract for Watford to compete for a roster spot in training camp.
Watford appeared in 53 games with the Philadelphia 76ers last season. The 6-foot-8 forward averaged 6.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 16.3 minutes per game for the Sixers. In early November, Watford put up a triple-double for Philadelphia with 20 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists.
The Pelicans currently have 14 players signed to standard contracts. New Orleans previously signed Kobe Bufkin, Caleb Houstan and Christian Koloko to training camp deals. The Pelicans are $5.7 million under the luxury tax and have reportedly been engaged in talks to sign or trade for guard Bennedict Mathurin.
