Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayJosh Hart and the New York Knicks could eventually agree upon a three-year extension worth between $54 million to $62 million that would represent a middle ground, according to one league source. A second source pointed to a similar figure, suggesting a three-year deal worth $60 million to $62 million total.
Hart became eligible for a contract extension on August 10, with the maximum allowable deal worth four years and $132 million. Hart is entering the final guaranteed year of his current contract at a $20.9 million salary, with a team option worth roughly $22 million for 2027-28.
With the salary cap increasing, Hart's contract would decline relative to a percentage of the cap.
The proposed range would pay Hart between $18 million and $20 million annually, closely aligned with his current deal. Hart is coming off one of his most efficient offensive seasons, averaging more than 14 points while shooting better than 50 percent from the field and a career-best 41.3 percent from three-point range.
Hart's market value is complicated by the contracts of other Knicks starters. OG Anunoby earns more than $40 million annually, Jalen Brunson is due for a larger payday, and Mikal Bridges signed a four-year, $150 million extension last summer.
Karl-Anthony Towns is also eligible for a contract extension.
Comparisons elsewhere in the league suggest Hart could command more than the proposed range. Boston Celtics guard Derrick White, who turns 32 in July, is set to earn just north of $30 million this season despite a statistical profile similar to Hart's. The Phoenix Suns also signed Dillon Brooks to a three-year, $73 million extension earlier this month.
