Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayLaunched earlier this year, the Restrap Switch Rack is an axle-mounted rear rack system made for all kinds of bikes. Based on customer feedback, the brand has released an adaptor kit that allows the axle-mounted system to attach to rear rack mounts. Find details here…
The Restrap Switch Rack launched in February and uses a proprietary axle-mounted design to attach to almost any bike. Logan wrote an in-depth review, noting the proprietary design as a con. Others in the comments and elsewhere echoed that criticism, asking Restrap for another way to attach the rack to their bikes. Restrap listened to the feedback and has now released Direct Mount Adaptors so that the Switch rack can mount to either the axle or rear rack mounts. Restrap says these adaptors can be installed on frames with M5 mounting points on the seat stays, but it’s important to ensure they are horizontal and aligned with each other to avoid the rack from binding during installation.
The design of these aluminum adaptors is relatively simple: they attach in the same way they would to the axle, with the adaptor ends threading onto rack mounts. With different mounting orientations and bolt lengths provided in the kit, users can attach the Switch Rack to bikes with 135, 142, or 148mm spacing. However, the Switch Rack is still not compatible with full-suspension frames. The adaptor mounts retail for $24 (£16) and can be purchased directly from Restrap. As with all their other product releases, Restrap put together a comprehensive instructional video. Check it out below:
