Pitching chaos will continue for the White Sox today. Lefty Anthony Kay will open against the Guardians, with righty Sean Burke expected to follow.

1. Chourio wins it for the Brewers

Milwaukee had done next to nothing against Michael King and company heading into the ninth inning yesterday. Shutdown closer Mason Miller uncharacteristically walked three in the final frame, setting the stage for Jackson Chourio. The outfielder added to his postseason legend with a missile up the middle that scored the tying and winning runs. “We’re a team that never backs down,” Chourio said (h/t Adam McCalvy of MLB.com). “We’re never going to back down from a challenge, and we like these moments. We’re going to keep going, and we’re going to battle for every opportunity that we get.”

2. Fuentes, ATL bullpen come through

Braves manager Walt Weiss opted for a bullpen game on Sunday instead of going to ace Chris Sale. The veteran lefty covered the final four outs in Atlanta’s victory over Philadelphia on Thursday. Weiss gave the ball to journeyman Ray Kerr, who came through with another strong showing as the opener. The Braves mixed and matched through the first five innings, then turned to rookie Didier Fuentes. The hard-throwing righty sat down 11 consecutive Dodgers to begin his outing. A Max Muncy solo homer finally chased him. It was his longest big-league outing since March. Closer Raisel Iglesias secured the final out of the game. Atlanta now heads home for Game 3 with the series tied and a rested Sale ready to go.

3. Peralta gets the ball for TB

The Rays are going to trade deadline acquisition Freddy Peralta against Cam Schlittler and the Yankees in Game 2 tonight. Peralta struggled in his first few starts with the club before turning his season around to close the year. The righty allowed just three earned runs over his final six starts of the campaign. Peralta earned AL Pitcher of the Month honors for his performance in September. New York scored nine runs in both Wild Card games against Boston. The offense was held in check in Game 1 of the ALDS, with the club managing just one hit.
