The Impervia is Pard Design’s first electric gravel bike, and it’s certainly… something. There’s obviously a lot of time and effort that went into the design here, but it seems rather gratuitous, as if they were trying way too hard to make their ripple in a growing sea of gravel eBikes.
(Photo / Pard Design)Art can be like that, though. It can be highly subjective and polarizing at times, which is often the point. This may be one of those cases. My opinion of the Impervia is just that, only my opinion. But, man, that’s an ugly bicycle.
Let’s learn more about it.
The “First Luxury Gravel eBike”
Pard Design says that the Impervia is not only their first eBike, but also claims that it’s the “first Luxury Gravel eBike”. What’s a luxury gravel eBike? I’m not sure. Let’s see if we can find out.
Ok, so it seems that Pard had a customer who already owns their Estrema ebike (pictured below), and wanted something to “tackle cities, dirt roads, and trails without limits,” and always “with elegance and power”. Boom… the “first Luxury Gravel eBike” was born. I’ll include Pard’s email below, so you can thank them later.
The Pard Design EstremaThere is a tremendous amount of fluff on the site about this bike. But I’ll try to weed through it a bit.
Some Details
The Impervia frame is made using CNC-machined 6082 aluminum. It has a claimed total weight of 18kg (39.7 pounds). Pard lists a carbon weight of 15kg, so it seems that this bike may be available with an aluminum frame as well. The company points out that “no two Impervias are the same,” as every bike is custom-built and tailored to your needs – “every Impervia is born in the atelier, not in the factory.”
Pard is using BCA components for the crank and brakes. The BCA brakes are CNC-machined and come equipped with a pair of 160mm rotors for the Impervia. BCA is no slouch when it comes to quality parts and braking performance, as they’ve been making motorcycle and MTB brakes for over 30 years.
Pard is spec’ing SRAM Force for the Impervia’s drivetrain, so the Impervia should shift just fine. And that’s a good thing.
Mahle M40 Motor

The Mahle M40 is Mahle’s first high-performance mid-drive motor. It has a claimed max torque of 105Nm, and “up to 850W of peak power”, providing a progressive and natural feeling of assistance. The M40 motor integrates with the Mahle Digital Ecosystem, which can connect your bike to your smartphone, smart watch, or other device.

The System can also be used for customization and monitoring purposes, helping to enhance the experience. The dedicated components complete the system.

The Impervia’s Mahle M40 motor also utilizes a Hill Brake that can help get started on steep slopes.

The Mahle M40 also has a feature called Motor Dynamic Overrun. This means that the motor’s assistance continues for a “few moments” after pedaling, which Pard claims is “useful for overcoming obstacles with fluidity”. The motor has three assist levels: Eco, Custom, and Turbo.
