Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by Adpathway
Standert’s stainless steel Erdgeschoss gravel bike was already ready for any adventure with big tire clearance, stable geo, all the mounts, dynamo routing, and sliding dropouts – all made from rust-proof material you’ll never have to worry about. But now it adds future-proof to the mix, with a new set of UDH-equipped sliding dropouts, and a wider T47 bottom bracket…
Standert Erdgeschoss stainless steel gravel bike gets UDH
(All photos by Poster CA/Standert)The popular, flexible, and sometimes elusive Standert Erdgeschoss adventure and bikepacking gravel bike is back. And now, with a smart sliding UDH dropout update. You get all the worry-free mixed-surface capabilities of the long-running stainless steel bike, now able to fit all the latest drivetrains without giving up the future-proof, alt-drivetrain compatibility, and trailside singlespeed repair potential of those sliding dropouts.
“The Erdgeschoss has built a loyal fanbase over the years, so we decided to make the necessary upgrades to future-proof it for the latest groupsets, while keeping the traditional features that made it so great in the first place. Long-lasting, service-friendly, and highly adaptable.”
– Maxe Faschina, Head of Product at StandertHow did Standert create UDH-ready sliders for the new Erdgeschoss?

It’s a subtle change, tweaking the construction of the rear end just a bit to make it all work out.
The trick with sliding dropouts is their modularity. Pop in a new alloy dropout insert, and you can swap from traditional derailleurs to internally geared hubs to a singlespeed setup. And you can even swap axle standards and brake mounts when done right, making sliding dropout bikes quite future-proof.

But, with the new UDH standard and the larger contact area of the full mount SRAM Transmission derailleurs, you actually needed more clear space between the traditional frame & slider. To make it all fit, Standert created a new stainless dropout. It now sits a bit higher above the axle, and gets more of a straight connection to the chainstay, which now meets the dropout higher off the ground to make more room for a derailleur in the forward-most position.

Because of that, unofficially, it looks like the new UDH sliding dropout could fit in previous slider frames. But it would raise the rear end and tweak your geometry. (Resulting in a slightly higher BB, steeper head & seattube angles, even incrementally lengthening Reach & decreasing Stack. But… you could probably counteract that by pairing a 45mm rear with a 50mm front tire on a previous generation bike?)
