Liverpool could reportedly be set to bank some extra transfer funds from the sale of striker Darwin Nunez to Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal.

The Uruguay international hasn’t been at his best in this three years at Anfield, and it makes sense that his future now looks increasingly likely to be elsewhere.

Nunez was a target for Napoli earlier in this transfer window, but a deal couldn’t be agreed, and Fabrizio Romano is now reporting on links with Al Hilal.

Still, if Nunez leaves for a big fee then it could surely help Liverpool up their offer for Isak, even if he’s still surely someone NUFC will be desperate not to sell.

Isak would be a major upgrade on Nunez up front, while Liverpool have also already added talented young French striker Hugo Ekitike to their squad this summer after bringing him in from Eintracht Frankfurt recently.

In a busy summer for Liverpool, they have also signed Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez, while Trent Alexander-Arnold, Luis Diaz, Jarell Quansah and Caoimhin Kelleher have left.
