Moretto reports that Atalanta and Como have also asked about the ex-Barcelona defender following his Celta Vigo exit as interest in his situation continues to grow.

Alongside the aforementioned trio, Sky Sports credited Aston Villa with interest recently, but it looks as if Sunderland are taking steps to ge ahead of Premier League competition.

Why Oscar Mingueza could be a bargain for Sunderland

Mingueza has rebuilt his reputation over the past two seasons with Celta Vigo after leaving Barca in search of regular first-team football.

The defender became one of Celta's most consistent performers thanks to his versatility, featuring at right-back, centre-back, on the right side of a back three and even on the wing.

His technical ability on the ball and comfort playing out from defence have made him an important player in possession, while his experience of different defensive systems has increased his appeal to clubs across Europe.

The 26-year-old progressed through Barcelona's famous La Masia academy, Mingueza already possesses experience of competing at the highest level in both domestic and European football.

Celta were also looking to tie him down, but the player reportedly rejected their advances for a fresh start after making 147 appearances for them in total.

That background has helped him develop into a reliable defender capable of adapting to different tactical approaches.

With Mingueza available on a free transfer, he could represent excellent value for Le Bris.
