Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has made it clear he has no plans to leave the organization for another NBA role, according to Anthony Slater on The Hoop Collective podcast. Slater noted that Kerr emphasized his focus is on the Warriors, not other coaching opportunities.

Kerr, who has led Golden State since 2014, highlighted his strong relationships with players and the front office as a key reason for staying. He described his collaboration with GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. and the roster as “great,” and said the timing just needs to feel right for any future decisions.

“I think I’m very comfortable with the players. I know they respect me. We have a great collaboration. Love working with Mike, love working with this whole organization,” Kerr said.

Despite speculation about his long-term plans, Kerr is not rushing into a contract extension. He suggested that a decision might come later in the season, possibly around the All-Star break, but stressed his intent to continue coaching if everything aligns.

“One of the things that I’m aware of is in sports, and every sport, there’s kind of an expiration date on coaching jobs,” Kerr explained. “If you feel as a coach that it’s not clicking anymore, then it’s time to go, and I don’t think that’s the case.”

The 60-year-old coach also addressed his relationship with superstar Stephen Curry, saying their strong connection contributes to the team’s ongoing success. Slater’s reporting indicates that Kerr expects to remain with the Warriors well beyond the 2025–26 season.

The Warriors enter the season anchored by Curry, Draymond Green, and Jimmy Butler, with Kerr at the helm.
