Former two-division world champion Stephen Fulton Jr. says he was disappointed by his performance in his last outing and is determined to show that he remains a factor at the highest level when he returns on July 25 in Sydney, Australia.

Fulton (23-2, 8 KOs) will face Australian contender Liam Wilson (18-3, 10 KOs) in a 10-round super featherweight bout on the undercard of the Errol Spence Jr. vs. Tim Tszyu pay-per-view event.

Speaking in a press release announcing the fight, Fulton acknowledged that his unanimous decision loss to WBC super featherweight champion O’Shaquie Foster last December fell short of his own expectations.

“I expect Liam to be on his A-game and take this fight as an opportunity to get a shot at the title,” said Fulton. “This fight is to show that I am nowhere near finished and to redeem myself after my last performance.

“I let my fans and peers down in my last fight, as well as myself, so this is me coming back out strong!”

The defeat to Foster ended Fulton’s brief reign as WBC featherweight champion and dropped him to 1-2 in his last three fights. Prior to that stretch, the Philadelphia native had rebuilt momentum by defeating Brandon Figueroa in their February 2025 rematch to capture a world title in a second weight class.

Wilson enters the bout riding a five-fight winning streak and will be fighting in front of a home crowd. The Australian contender has previously challenged world-class opposition, including Emanuel Navarrete and Oscar Valdez, and hopes a victory over Fulton will move him back into title contention.

“Fulton has been a champion in two divisions,” Wilson said. “I respect that. But I’m ‘Mr. Damage.’ I don’t do easy nights, and I don’t do backward steps. On July 26, he’s going to find that out.”

Fulton-Wilson is part of a card headlined by former unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. and former junior middleweight titleholder Tim Tszyu in a 158-pound catchweight bout at Sydney’s Afterpay Arena.
