Sri Lanka Cricket has announced the schedule for Australia Women’s three-match ODI tour of Sri Lanka in December 2026. All three matches will be played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium, with the opening ODI scheduled for December 15. Australia are scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on December 10, giving the visitors five days to prepare for the series. The tour will be their first ODI assignment in Sri Lanka in more than a decade, adding further interest to the three-match contest.

Sri Lanka prepare for important home series

The series will give Sri Lanka an opportunity to collect valuable points in the ICC Women’s Championship 2025-2029 cycle. The Championship serves as the primary qualification pathway for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, meaning the three ODIs will carry significance beyond the bilateral series.

Sri Lanka will look towards experienced players such as Chamari Athapaththu as they prepare to face one of the strongest teams in women’s cricket. Playing at home could also give the hosts an advantage as they look to put together a strong campaign across the three matches.

Australia enter series in strong ODI form

Australia head into the series after an impressive run in women’s ODI cricket during 2026. They have won all six of their ODIs this year, completing a 3-0 sweep against India before recording another clean sweep in the Caribbean.

Under Sophie Molineux, Australia will be looking to continue that momentum in Sri Lanka. The Australians have also dominated their previous meetings with Sri Lanka, winning all 19 of their white-ball matches against the hosts since December 2000.
