The Philadelphia 76ers have decided to part ways with Daryl Morey after six seasons as president of basketball operations. The move came after Morey met with owners Josh Harris and David Blitzer on Tuesday.

Philadelphia will keep Nick Nurse as head coach despite the team posting a 116-130 record during his three seasons with the franchise.

Bob Myers, currently president of sports for Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, will oversee the search for the Sixers’ next top basketball executive while also handling interim basketball operations duties.

The Sixers hired Morey in 2020 following his departure from the Houston Rockets.

During his tenure, he drafted Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe, signed Paul George in free agency, and completed major trades involving James Harden and Ben Simmons.

Although Philadelphia consistently reached the playoffs and advanced to several Conference Semifinals under Morey, the franchise still failed to reach the Conference Finals for the first time since 2001.

“I have a tremendous amount of respect for Daryl personally and professionally, and I’m grateful for his contributions over the last six seasons,” Harris said in a statement.
