Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayThe unbeaten champion briefly shared a scale reading that closely matched the proposed catchweight discussed with Devin Haney
Shakur Stevenson has reignited speculation about a fight with Devin Haney after posting a scale reading of 144.4 pounds to his Instagram Story. The number immediately caught attention because Haney recently agreed to a proposed 144-pound catchweight during public discussions about a potential showdown.
Haney publicly signaled his willingness to meet Shakur at that number earlier this month.
“If I come to 144… we have a fight?” Haney asked on social media.
“Yes,” Shakur responded.
The exchange was viewed as a breakthrough after weeks of public back-and-forth between the two unbeaten Americans. Haney later agreed to the catchweight, but attention soon shifted elsewhere as Shakur remained largely silent and the WBO’s welterweight title situation became the focus.
Shakur’s latest post has now sparked fresh debate among fans, with many interpreting the 144.4-pound reading as a reference to the number that has dominated negotiations.
The timing is notable because Haney still faces pressure regarding his WBO mandatory obligations. Earlier this month, the sanctioning body informed Haney that he must satisfy a mandatory defense against Keyshawn Davis, the current No. 1 contender.
That development complicated talks for a Shakur fight, which many fans view as one of the biggest all-American matchups available in boxing.
The scale photo does not confirm that negotiations have resumed or that an agreement is close. However, by posting a weight reading that closely mirrors the proposed catchweight before allowing the Story to expire, Shakur has once again placed the spotlight on a fight that continues to generate significant interest throughout the sport.
